Two themes tend to dominate our New Year’s resolutions. The first is usually getting ourselves into shape and the second is often saving money! However by putting a plan in place to implement your resolutions you can do both.

Getting into shape with yoga is all about being consistent. Ideally you should practice at least an hour of yoga three times a week and attend as many classes as your budget and time allows. Usually the best way to economise and to foster commitment is to book a course of classes. This provides the added incentive of getting your money’s worth since you have paid in advance.  Even if you can only manage one class a week there is always something rather nice about practicing yoga in the company of others or perhaps occasionally having a yoga teacher come to your home or workplace where the cost can be shared with others.

If you can’t make it to many classes you can practice yoga alone even its only for 10 minutes a day. To make a start either use a DVD at home or take a look at yoga sessions on You Tube.  I have a few short sessions lurking around on there somewhere!  Simply placing a lap-top at the end of your mat is a viable option to inspire you especially if you are tied up with work, young children, travelling or having to be super frugal this year.
